He was born in 1935 at Vadore, Daragazikhan District, Multan State (now in Pakistan) and migrated to India at the time of partition, went through and endured tumultuous life phases, risen to unsurpassable heights in life and profession. Thus, having led a fruitful and eventful life, he left for his heavenly abode on 19-12-2011. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
Reminiscing on his life, Sri LD Gogia had to spend his childhood in an atmosphere of abject poverty. His student life was fraught with financial constraints and restraints.
But penury did not dampen his spirits and hamper his cherished goals of life. He swam against tidal waves of traumatic circumstances and by indomitable courage of conviction, unstinted industry and dauntless spirit, he had risen from the pangs of poverty and reached the pinnacle of glory. This spectacular and meteoric rise from penury to pivotal position was made possible due to his sustained and tireless efforts. As a result, he made himself a legend in his own life time.
Shri L.D. Gogia was the founder of Asia Law House. He first obtained copyright of “Andhra Law Times” from M.L. Tilak in 1977. Then he played a historic role in purchasing the copyright of “Supreme Court Journal”, which was established in 1938 and which had earned unique reputation and an abiding place in public estimation, from “M.L.J. Publications” and revitalized the journal in such a way as to bring it to its present glorious heights. He had not only brought his brothers but also his near relatives into the business of publishing and selling law books throughout India, leading a remarkable career of success and fulfilment.
At the time when he started business of publishing law books and journals, there was not even a single publisher in Andhra Pradesh. He was the first publisher of law books and journals in A.P. This business has been widely expanded in all proportions with publishing of sizable number of law journals viz. “Andhra Law Times”, Andhra Law Times (Criminal)”, “Andhra Law Times (Revenue)” , “Andhra Law Times (Legislative Supplement)”, and “Andhra Weekly Reporter (reporting cases on Motor Accidents) besides publishing law books. The reach of these journals is extensive, stretching across States such as Orissa, Kerala and Karnataka.
Shri L.D. Gogia’s last ambition was to bring out ‘ALT’ in digital form, which had since been fulfilled weeks before his heavenly sojourn. His promising son, Manohar Gogia, true to the spirit and cherished goals of their father, have rededicated themselves to uphold and carry to still greater heights the banner of ‘ALT’, with their devotion and dedication, as they are aware that this is the only way they can pay true tribute to their great and illustrious father.
More than six decades ago, our Journal, the Andhra Law Times took its birth along with the birth of the High court of Andhra at Guntur. At that time this Journal received blessings in a large measure from the high dignitaries of the Governments and the legal luminaries, who adorned the Bench.
As technology developed, after we took over the Journal, we have modernized the typing of Head-Notes and judgments on computers and adopted modern methods of printing.
In our endeavor to cater to the needs of the legal profession, we have undertaken publication of the Andhra Law Times(Criminal), Andhra Weekly Reporter, ALT(Revenue) and ALT(Legislative Supplement) and we are now doing our best to place extensive legal material before the bench and the bar and others concerned with law. We have been able to achieve this much of progress because of the tireless efforts of the founder and publisher of these Journals, Sri. L.D.GOGIA to whom we are indebted in a large measure. In this effort to popularize our Journals he had toured several places, towns and district Head Quarters of A.P. and other parts of India.
In this context it may not be out of place to record that some of well wishers from the bar had earlier become Judges of the High Court of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. Very recently, one of our Honorary Editors Sri P.S.Narayana has been elevated as a Judge of the High Court of A.P. We take this opportunity to congratulate his Lordship. We hope and trust that his blessings shall continue with us.
In our publications we have received maximum assistance from our Editors, many of whom happen to be retired officers of the Judiciary. The High Court is pleased to recommended our Journals for use in the High Court and the Subordinate Courts. For this we are thankful to the High Court.
It shall always be our cherished desire and endeavor to do our best in the field of Law Journalism.
We recall the Messages that we received from the President, Vice-President, Governor of Andhra Pradesh apart from Judges and other dignitaries among others.
I am pleased to know that you are bringing out a new Law Journal called the "Andhra Law Times". My best wishes for its success.
I welcome the starting of a new Law Journal entitled "Andhra Law Times". It is but fitting that its inaugural issue should appear on the date of the establishment of the Andhra High Court. The value of such Journal can hardly be over-estimated; in fact it is almost indepensible to lawyers and administrators. I wish the Journal, which has a distinguished editorial board, every success.
Every Andhra is proud that they have carved a State for themselves after many years of agitation and it is a matter of pleasure that the Andhra High Court will function from the 5th of July at Guntur, the heart of Andhra Desa.It is very appropriate that the eminent lawyers of the High Court Bar have decided to start a Law Journal by the name the "Andhra Law Times". As one who belonged to the profession I heartly congragulate the sponsers of this great enterprise. I wish the Andhra Law Times a successful carrer not only in the interest of the Andhra State but also of India.
I am glad to hear that you are bringing out the "Andhra Law Times" to synxhronise with the date of the inauguration of the Andhra High Court. I have no doubt that this venture of yours would prove of great help and utility to the members of the Bench and the Bar. Having been a member of the profession myself, my best wishes for the auccess of the Journal are always assured.
I am happy to learn that you are starting a Law Journal, the "Andhra Law Times". I wish the Journal every success.
Sri M.L. Tilak was born at Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari District in 1923. His father late Sri M. Sambasiva Rao was a Lawyer of repute who practised at Rajahmundry. Young Tilak soon made his mark as a precocious student. He was a member of the school debating team which won many trophies. He was a connoisseur of good food and an entertaining conversationalist. A man of many gifts he gravitated to the legal profession. After graduation he took his law degree from the Madras University and joined the Chambers of Sri Bachu Jagannadha Das who later became a judge of the Supreme Court of India. In 1954 when the Andhra High Court was constituted after the formation of the Andhra State He founded this law journal the Andhra Law Times. For twenty five years he devoted himself heart and soul to this institution. It was both a heart breaking and back breaking task. He survived many a crisis and established the journal on a firm basis. Many popular law books were published by him and his name became a house-hold word in the field of law journalism. His health suffered a set back and in 1980 he left for the U.S.A. where he settled down with his children. During a recent visit to India he renewed his old ties and even wrote for the Andhra Law Times again. He passed away on 10-3- 1986.
His memory will be cherished by all those who value and appreciate his contribution to Law Journals and Law Books. This journal in paticular is indebted to him for his selfless service.
I am extremely happy to know that you will be successfully completing five decades of yeoman and useful service to the legal fraternity and the administration of justice, by publication of your reputed law journal - Andhra Law Times as well as the other ancillary journals catering even to the requirements of specialised fields. Law Journals are as important and vital, as codification of statutes becomes essential for updating and keeping track of them readily for being used, particularly in a system of Justice Administration which recognize 'Law of Precedents' to be also a source of law. In the words of Francis Bacon, decided cases are said to be the anchors of the law, as laws are of the State. My congratulations to everyone who contributed their mite to reach such pinnacle of glory.
My best wishes, invoking the blessings of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Varu, for the continued success and glory of your law journals to commendably celebrate in the years to come platinum as well as of centuries successfully of such noble service.
I am happy to learn that a commemorative Volume of the journal "Andhra Law Times" to mark the completion of 50th year of its publication is being published. Such a journal will be very useful and beneficial and will go a long way in enhancing the performance of judiciary. I send my good wishes for such a publication.
"On the auspicious occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Andhra Law Times, Hon'ble Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti conveys the good wishes to the publication and for the success of the celebrations."
Andhra Law Times has rendered meritorious service to the legal profession. It has acquired a place of distinction amongst several law journals and is a known name. His Lordship wishes the journal all the more prosperity in the times to come so that the journal may still enlarge the fields of its activity so as to serve the legal profession still higher.
"I am very happy to note that Andhra Law Times is bringing a Commemorative Volume of its Journal on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee Year of publication. Your Journal over the last 50 years has done yeoman' service to the legal profession by prompt and accurate reporting of judgments which has in its own way contributed to the development of law, apart from being, of great assistance to the members of the Bar."
I wish the celebration as well as Andhra Law Times all the very best.
"I am happy to know that the Andhra Law Times has successfully completed fifty years of its publication and will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year in January, 2004."
Period of fifty years of successful career in the history of any institution certainly brings a feather in its cap. A golden jubilee is an occasion to rejoice and celebrate and also for introspection. Andhra Law Times has discharged its function to the satisfaction of the public at large. The credit goes to the management of your Law Times.
I am also glad to know that the Andhra Law Times is bringing out a commemorative Volume of the Journal
I hope and trust that the same dedication of work will be carried forward by the Andhra Law Times for years to come so that its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations will be organised with equal pleasure and satisfaction.
I extend my heartiest felicitations on this occasion and wish the celebrations a grand success.
"Andhra Law Times, a leading Law journal in the country is going to celebrate half of century of its existence. A Law Journal which gives importance and primacy to accuracy and punctuality in publication makes its mark. Andhra Law Times has excelled on both the counts and it is not surprising that it has attained the present popularity. I have no doubt that the publishers of the Journal shall continue to do the good work, and will have occasions to celebrate further Jubilees."
"It is a matter of great pleasure to find that Andhra Law Times has completed its 50 years of publication. It is certainly an achievement in itself. The law is no doubt interpreted and laid down by the Courts but it is conveyed to the people, the legal practitioners and the all concerned, through law journals. Prompt reporting with accurate head-notes are attributes of a good law journal. I have no reason to doubt that Andhra Law Times lags behind in any manner, as it is self-evident from its long enduring existence."
I wish all the best for the Journal.
"On the occasion of commemoration of golden jubilee year
of Andhra Law Times, I would like to congratulate the
publishers and editors of this popular Law journal and
send my good wishes for its successful growth in the years
to come. As a practising lawyer and as a Judge of the A.P. High Court, I was going
through the reports regularly. Andhra Law Times has established its credentials in
the field of law reporting and remained as a useful tool in the hands of the lawyers
and Judges to have updated information on law and legal issues. The articles
published in Andhra Law Times over the years have helped the legal professionals
to improve their expertise. I hope the golden jubilee year will inspire the publishers
and all those associated with it to work with dedication to improve it more and
more"
With all good wishes
"I am extremely happy to note that Andhra Law Times has successfully completed 50 years of its publication and will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee year in January, 2004 on which occasion a commemorative volume of Journal is being brought out.
On this very happy occasion, I congratulate Andhra Law Times for its commendable work in publishing the judgments rendered by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, other High Courts and also by the Supreme Court. The methodical assembly of headnotes is a commendable work to assist Judges and Lawyers alike in dispensation of justice. The publishers need to be congratulated for bringing out the Golden Jubilee commemorative Volume.
The sheer quantity of the decisions rendered as precedents provide us one of the most important source of law in the modern age though it is quite often rendered defunct due to non-reference if the same is not readily available. The Andhra Law Times, I am sure, would mitigate the problem to an extent and help precedents being used effectively for the common good.
Needless to say, the Andhra Law Times would prove indispensable for all concerned professionals, Courts and Tribunals."
"It gives me immense pleasure to learn that 'Andhra Law Times' will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year in January 2004 on completing its 50th year of its successful publication and a souvenir is being brought out to commemorate the occasion.
'Andhra Law Times' which is one of the leading law journals in South India has been making its effective contribution by publishing almost all the judgments of the Andhra Pradesh High Court as also various important articles concerning legal issues, which are very informative and useful for all concerned."
I wish the celebration all success.
I am happy to learn that Andhra Law Times is celebrating the "Golden Jubilee Year" in January, 2004. Andhra Law Times is one of the leading law journals which is helpful to the Bench, the Bar and the public at large. From its inception, which coincided with the establishment of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in July, 1954, the journal has come a long way in meeting the aspirations of the Judicial fraternity.
I wish the grand function all success.
"I am happy to learn that the Andhra Law Times has completed 50 years and has been a prime publisher and reporter of decisions of not only of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, but also the Supreme Court. I have also noticed the Publishers take pains in correctly reporting the matters.
I hope and believe that Andhra Law Times Publishers will keep up the tempo and render services to legal fraternity.
I wish the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Andhra Law Times all success"
"I was delighted to know that Andhra Law Times (ALT) will
be completing 50 years of its publication shortly and will
be celebrating the Golden Jubilee year in January 2004.
ALT has served the legal fraternity, the Bench and the Bar
and public at large all these past five decades in an
outstanding and most useful way. Since I had the privilege
to serve the Andhra Pradesh High Court for nearly 9 years as its servant, I had to
refer to ALT quite often and almost everyday in my decision - making process. I
always found the law reporting in the ALT impeccable and dependable as well as
pleasurable to read. Head notes of judgment in the ALT are known for their plentitude
and comprehensiveness. The ratio of the judgments are correctly ascertained and
pithily but accurately stated for ready reference. The contributions of my esteemed
Brother, Justice RS.Narayana as the Editor of the ALT are praiseworthy and indelible
and a part of the success of ALT should go to him. It is gratifying to note that large
number of judgments as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court handed down
by me are reported in the ALT and I treasure them as reminiscences. I have no
doubt in my mind that ALT is one of the best law reporters in the country. I hope
and trust that ALT will continue to serve the Bar and Bench with its usual commendable
way in the years to come. On this happy and rejoicing occasion, I congratulate all
the concerned for the astounding success of the ALT among the law publications in
the Country."
I wish it all success
"I congratulate the management and staff of M/s Andhra Law Times on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The Indian Judicial system is firmly committed to the rule of precedents. This adherence to precedents, which are binding on all the inferior Courts in the hierarchical set up of the Courts in India, also forms part of the judicial discipline. It is heartening to note that the Andhra Law Times is reporting both the judgments of the High Court as well as the Supreme Court so as to serve the needs of the legal fraternity in every nook and corner of the State. The head notes are well prepared which can be made use of profitably without spending much time.
Part from this, I also find that the Andhra Law Times is publishing educative and thought provoking articles on important topics of law and allied matters in its journal section which are equally useful for the members of the Bar and the Bench. The Journal section also at times publishes critical analysis of the judgment rendered which are well supported by authoritative pronouncements. I also find that the Andhra Law Times is occupying a prominent place in the law libraries in the State. Equally, I am told that the Andhra Law Times is one of the main journals, being subscribed by the members of the legal fraternity.
I hope and trust that the Andhra Law Times in the years to come will continue to serve both the Bar and the Bench. I wish the Andhra Law Times every success in its endeavour.
It gives me great pleasure to know that the law journal "Andhra Law Times" will be successfully completing Fifty Years of its publication and celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year in January 2004. Courts interpret the law through their judgments while adjudicating disputes. Law Journals convey the same to the legal practitioners and to the public at large. Andhra Law Times has taken upon itself this responsibility by promptly reporting judgments of Supreme Court and High Court of Andhra Pradesh with accurate head-notes which are of immense use to the Bench and the Bar. Successful completion of fifty years of publication of the journal is not an easy task, a magnificent edifice built brick by brick, always striving hard to give satisfaction to the Bench, the Bar, the litigant public and the public at large, keeping up the tradition handed over by eminent personalities who manned the Editorial Board at the beginning. I wholeheartedly congratulate Andhra Law Times for its dedication all these years and wish the journal every success in the years to come.
I am happy to know that ANDHRA LAW TIMES has successfully completed 50 years of its publications. The role of the Law Reports in the administration of justice is too well-known to be explained.
The publishers of the ANDHRA LAW TIMES have successfully discharged the obligation both to the institution as well as the litigant public of maintaining the record of the march of law in this Court for the last five decades. I congratulate them and wish them all success in future in their efforts.
"I extend my good wishes to Andhra Law Times which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Celebrations. During the last 25 years it has done a good job in providing a reasonably good journal of law to the Advocate and judges. I hope it will continue to do good work in future as well."
"I am happy to know that the Publishers of Andhra Law
Times is bringing a commemorative volume of the journal
on the eve of completing 50 years of its publication in
befitting manner. After coming out of the teething problems
the journal gained name and fame in reporting the
judgments not only of the Andhra Pradesh High Court but also some of the important
judgments of the Supreme Court. Today the Journal is considered to be the foremost
Law Journal in the State of A.P. This shows the commitment and unstinted efforts
made on behalf of the Management in bringing the Journal to the satisfaction of
the legal fraternity as well as the clientele with latest legal propositions. Naturally
this is the time for every one associated with the publication of the Law Journal to
feel proud of their contribution in continuing the publication for over half a century
uninterruptedly and to share the joyous moments. I hope and trust that the journal
will continue to serve the society in general and members of the legal fraternity in
particular with the same vigour and dedication and contributes its might in the
development of law to achieve the Constitutional goal, " Sarve Jano Sukhino
Bhavanthu."
I wish the Journal every success in the coming years.
"I congratulate the management and every personnel behind the Journal 'Andhra Law Times' on completion of Fifty years. Commencing the publications inceptionally without competition in the field and continuing all along, with several similar publications in the field now. It is a commendable achievement. I wish everyone of you a great success in future to carry forward the journal to greater heights and to make it indispensable."
"I am happy to note that the Andhra Law Times journal has completed fifty successful years and is celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year in January, 2004. On this occasion, I deem it a great privilege to congratulate all the persons who are instrumental for this success and especially Sir L.D. Gogia, Publisher under whose able management, the journal assumed significance among the legal fraternity.
As a regular reader, I can say with confidence, that the services of Andhra Law Times are useful both to the Bench and the Bar. The reporting style of head notes as regards the law laid down in the judgment is very succinct and lucid and one can easily grasp the case in no time. By reporting not only the judgments of our High Court, but also the Apex Court and other High Courts in the country and by publishing different articles on crucial topics, which all of us frequently come across and which are very useful and enlightening, the Andhra Law Times Journal is indirectly subserving the cause of justice. On this occasion, I wish Sri L.D. Gogia, Publisher and Sri Manohar Gogia, who has been actively functioning since 1992 as an Associate Editor and all the Editors and the staff a great success in the years to come."
"I am delighted to note that the management of Andhra Law Times is celebrating the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. All its journals have been serving the legal fraternity including the Bench, Bar and general public too, concerned with legal subjects. May the Almighty shower his blessings on the Group Journals for prosperity."
"It gives me great pleasure to know that Mr. L.D.Gogia, Publisher of Andhra Law Times, is celebrating Golden Jubilee Celebrations on successful completion of 50 years. I wish the publisher all success and serve the Bench and the Bar with update amendments and rulings of the High Court and the Apex Court."
"I compliment the Andhra Law Times on achieving the unique distinction of completing 50 years of uninterrupted and successful completion of publication of the law journal. The ALT is recognized for the promptness of its issues, the quality of its printing and circulation and its fairly comprehensive coverage of significant judgments delivered by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. It publishes topical articles, notes on significant decisions rendered by the Supreme Court and other High Courts, full reports of important judgment pronounced by the Supreme Court of India and also the orders of the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
The Golden Jubilee of publication of a law journal is a unique and significant event. I convey my best wishes to the publication and hope that the publishers will spare no effort to ensure that the same competent quality of printing, publishing and circulation will be maintained in the years to come."
It is heartening to note that the management of Andhra Law Times, one of the leading Law Journals in South India has completed fifty long years in serving the cause of justice. It is certainly a matter of pride and a big event to be celebrated. I am happy to note that the management of Andhra Law Times has in fact decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee year in January, 2004.
It needs no emphasis that the precedential jurisprudence is playing a vital role in the administration of justice. Those who are in the legal field should always keep themselves abreast of the march of law given the cleavage of opinion, divergence of authorities on the point and plethora of enactments being passed by the Parliament or the State Legislatures, as the case may be, which involve interpretation process. The Law Journal "Andhra Law Times" undoubtedly has been serving the cause of justice by publishing many a landmark and important Judgment of the Apex Court as well as the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. It, therefore, deserves a rich commendation from one and all. I wish the management all success in its effort.
"It is gratifying to note that Andhra Law Times, the publishers of law journals, namely Andhra Law Times, ALT (Criminal), ALT ( L&S), ALT (Revenue) and Andhra Weekly Reporter, is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year.
For a journal to be successful for fifty long years in the service of law is no mean achievement. The success story of the journals produced by the publishers lay in the high professional skills and standards adopted by the management in law reporting. Andhra Law Times has stood the test of the time. It is well known for its prompt and accurate reporting of the latest case-law. The journal not only reports latest judgments, but also reports write-ups analyzing them and publishes articles on subjects relating to law. The articles published in the journal section of Andhra Law Times are informative and educative and are very useful for lawyers as well as academicians.
Andhra Law Times has not only see many a lawyer grow and come up in their profession, but has also encouraged many a young writer to exhibit and expose their writing skills and talent in the subjects relating to law. The journal has made every lawyer's library its home and proved itself to be an indispensable tool.
I hope and trust that Andhra Law Times will continue with its avowed responsibility of bringing out high quality journals containing latest case-law, articles and essays etc. with their high quality and standard reporting. I wish the publishers and management of Andhra Law Times a great success on their onward march to the service of the legal fraternity.
"Happy to note that the Management of Andhra Law Times, Law Journal, is celebrating the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. This Journal has been serving the Bar, the Bench, Educational Institutions concerned with law, Corporate bodies, Statutory Corporations and the public too concerned with the subject of law.
May, the Almighty shower His blessings for further prosperity of the group Journals which are being run by the Management of Andhra Law Times.
"I am glad to know through your letter that Andhra Law Times successfully completed 50 years of its publication. Organising Golden Jubilee Celebrations is a fitting tribute for those who rendered their valuable services for the successful publication of the journal all these years. I am reading the journal for the last 30 years. It is a prime journal of Andhra Pradesh publishing many leading and landmark judgments of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and the Supreme Court on all matters relating to law. I congratulate the publishers, Editorial Board and workmen for the prompt release of the journal for all these years. I wish them to continue the same dedication in communicating landmark judgments through the journal in many more years to come. I wish the Golden Jubilee Celebrations a grand success."
"On the eve of Golden Jubilee Celebration of your
Journal, Andhra Law Times, I send my profound greeting.
Your journal contributed much to the legal world by
publishing latest case law and important decisions on each
subject. I wish you journal to serve the legal fraternity much more in future."
I wish the function great success.
"I am happy to learn that the Andhra Law Times which started functioning in the year 1954 will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year in January, 2004. I welcome the celebration of Golden Jubilee Year - 2004.1 have no doubt that this occasion itself would strengthen you more and to serve the legal fraternity not only in reporting the decisions of High Court and Supreme Court of India, but also in publishing the leading articles on topics of great legal importance, which will enhance the value of your publication from all corners. The journals are playing their part in justice delivery system. They bring about the legal awareness in respect of latest statutes brought into force. I wish the Andhra Law Times every success in its endeavour, and my best wishes for its long career of usefulness and a bright and prosperous future."
"It gives me immense pleasure to learn that 'Andhra Law Times' will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year in January, 2004 on completing its 50th year of its successful publication and a souvenir is being brought out to commemorate volume on the occasion. On this very happy occasion, I congratulate Andhra Law Times Sri L.D.Gogia & Manohar Gogia for its commendable work in publishing the Judgements rendered by the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The methodical assembly of head notes is a commendable work to assist Judges, Lawyers and public- at-large, alike in dispensation of Justice and it needs to be congratulated for bringing out the Golden Jubilee Commemorative Volume.
Andhra Law Times which is one of the leading law journals in Andhra Pradesh has been making its effective contribution by publishing various important articles concerning legal issues, which are informative and useful for all concerned."
I send my good wishes a great success in the years to come.
On this rarest of rare occasions, that of 'Golden Jubilee Celebrations' of a Law Reporting Journal, I congratulate Management and Editorial Staff of Andhra Law Times. 'Humbleness' will have no meaning if one does not remember and pay obeisance to the founders of such a Law Reporting Journal which is being appreciated by the Advocates, and Judges and all Law persons for the last fifty years. All should salute the founders of ALT.
That in a civilized world, Judiciary cannot be expected to repeatedly decide same intricate questions of jurisprudence, and law needs no emphasis. In helping the Judges to stick to principles of 'stare dec/s' and 'doctrine of precedent', Law Reporting Journals play a vital role. They render yeomen service by bringing to the working place of Judges, reported judgements and help prevent forensic inadvertences. Andhra Law Times has discharged its duty in this direction without any blemish.
I take pride to go on record that for the last about twenty five years, I am immensely benefited by referring to Andhra Law Times. There are many like me. The increasing number of subscribers to the Journal speaks volumes about its popularity not only in Andhra Pradesh but in other States as well. There is no wonder that if any non- Andhra Law person wants to subscribe to a Law Report Journal from Andhra Pradesh, in all probability Andhra law Times would be one of the preferred ones.
Andhra Law Times is also publishing special journals entirely dealing with Criminal Law, Tax Law and Revenue Law. This is a unique experiment, which will enable the Lawyers specializing in a particular branch, to save time and money by subscribing one special journal of choice. The printing, the preparation of placitum and the user-friendly technology used by the journal deserves commendation from one and all.
Golden Jubilee celebrations for "Andhra Law Times" deserves golden wishes for "All Time".
I am happy to learn that you are celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Andhra Law Times. As one who has been associated with the journal from the days it was founded by late Sri M.L. Tilak, Advocate I am specially gratified that the Journal has grown from strength to strength and is now 50 years old. It is permissible on such an occasion to pay a tribute to the founder Sri M.L. Tilak, the first Honorary Editor, a distinguished legal luminary late Sri D. Narasa Raju, and Justices Basi Reddy, chinnappa Reddy and Ramachandra Rao who were associated with the journal for long. So many people have striven to put this journal on a sound footing.
I congratulate the present Management for carrying on this noble venture successfully.
"I am happy to note that Andhra Law Times will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year in January, 2004 on its successfully completing 50 years of its publications. On this occasion, I congratulate ALT for publishing the Judgments rendered by the Supreme Court and A.P. High Court in particular. I am sure, the ALT would mitigate the problem to an extent and help precedents being used effectively for the common good. On the occasion of commemorative volume of Journal of the ALT, I wish all success for its future publications."
